2019 repress - first recorded in 1983 under the name visual, boyd jarvis s cut the music got me is one of the first true house records. a staple on the 80s new york club scene, the visionary instrumental dub was played everywhere from the paradise garage to zanzibar, dance-floors packing to it s mix of throbbing bass and wooshes of analogue synth magic. at ransom note we ve long been obsessed with the record, so when house hunting s aiden d araujo interviewed boyd - and found out that we could license it - we jumped at the chance. now, we present the music got you sounding bigger and better than ever before. remastered from boyd s original tapes by keith tenniswood at curved studios, the music got me is pressed on limited edition, heavyweight vinyl for clarity and bass pressure. complimenting the original release come 2 completely new mixes the first is a dubbed out masterpiece from edit-king nick the record alongside dan tyler of the idjut boys. between them they take the essence of jarvis s original and tease it out into a cavernous disco killer. next up comes bawrut man behind ransom notes debut release, the nu-acid anthem ciquita. bawrut does what he does best, throwing in latin percussion, layers of screwball 303 burbles, and a sense of joy, all whilst keeping boyd s original bass groove rolling.

minimood extra s forthcoming release is a vinyl only, red 12- affair that features two novel reworks of dub techno wizard david hausdorf s legendary salo release space walk . germany s david hausdorf has been turning out expertly crafted deep techno since the late nineties. he did so on labels like synaptic waves as well as styrax leaves, and in 2002 served up his classic space warehouse found! last copies ever.. walk on the epic berlin based imprint salo. first up is the 2015 version. it is a ten minute piece of heady, hypnotic techno with soft rubber drums, gently propulsive percussion and icy high-hats that add a real sense of scale and depth to the track. with slick boom- bap bite in the claps and hits, this is the sort of expertly reduced track that will lock dance floors in for hours. then comes the 2015 reshape, which again makes full use of its 10 minute length. there is a little more edgy reverb in this one, the drums are more upright and the pads are a little more rippling and rolling. it s a liquid groove as a result, and one that is near faultless for the way it rolls on and on without any friction.

underground mainstay leonardo lands on his own etheric label with two more of his hotly anticipated tunes that this time show off his dub techno and melodic credentials. perfectly hypnotic rolling drums and gorgeous pads layered up into a deeply intoxicating rhythm that really encourages your mind to cut loose and wander. these latest two tracks are sure to make a huge mark wherever they are dropped and further cement leonardo’s place in the electronic landscape.

support for my life at 45 part 1 came from huey morgan and craig charles on bbc 6music the second instalment of dr rubbefunk s my life at 45 series. canvas cathedral on the a-side is a jazzy all-instrumental affair that will have you head-nodding like nobody s business. over uptempo hip-hop flavoured beats reminiscent of early 90s golden era hip hop, chopped and looped riffs from sax man ben castle give way to rolling melodies and rapid fire solos. on the flip, unstoppable gospel powerhouse izo fitzroy is here, flexing her soulful tones over one of the most elastic basslines ever pressed on wax. underpinned by signature laidback drums that groove like a classic rhythm section of yesteryear, tasteful guitars and chiming electric piano weave their way between izo s lyrics and, bingo! that s a little blahzay right there! always keen to give the djs a bonus, the good doctor even squeezes some canvas beats onto the 7- for good measure.

2019 repress - sintope bosses ntfo return to bondage music this may to deliver a combination of digital and vinyl only productions in the form of their esperantza ep. following an impressive break through year in 2009, romanian duo dani and robert aka ntfo have since gone on to carve out an impressive resume within the world of house, with a series of releases on 20/20 vision, objektivity, diynamic and jargon making up a notable back catalogue. owners of their own sintope imprint, releasing material from themselves alongside the likes of revered parisian djebali and fellow romanian rhadow, the duo have garnered stand out support from ryan crosson, cinthie, vinyl speed adjust and arapu to name just a few, and having recently featured on the labels bondage games compilation in january, here we see the duo deliver a fresh four track ep that s set to become a favourite of many in the months ahead. title cut esperantza sees the duo go to work, fusing rolling, crisp percussion with rich sub-bass, before uppercut interjects, unveiling a production packed full of swing, reinforced by robust drum licks, skipping hats and sweeping synths. on the flip, the first vinyl only cut lux reveals a smooth, stripped back effort, with lush, deep pads floating effortlessly over hazy background textures, whilst the electro influenced avoid closing things out in fine fashion, as trickling lead lines flow amongst and intricate organic percussion patterns across seven minutes

at the forefront of the irish electronic music scene, sligo-born berlin-based duo brame & hamo, aka tiarnan mcmorrow and conor hamilton, announce their hotly anticipated fourth ep, celebrity impersonator. via their own imprint, brame & hamo. the title reflects the duos personality and playful energy, nodding to their love of celebrity impersonators whilst growing up. we have a bit of a soft spot for impersonators as it is a pretty ridiculous way to earn a living. a bit like djing! our favs were those of tom cruise, bill gates, gordon ramsay and johnny depp. opening with ‘midnight express, the rolling melodics nod to the early sounds of prog house and italo, acting as a transitional opener to their signature trance via techno scores. on the b-side, title track ‘celebrity impersonator, is a moody four four that edges into the darker realms with their love of breakbeat shimmering through, resulting in a club ready anthem. melting down into a rolling trance groove with a late night heady feel, ‘request rhythm closes the ep. with an impressive discography of eps behind them on their own imprint - trants, club orange and the dj favourite, limewire, as well as bookings worldwide the irish pair are set to propel onwards from sligo to berlin and beyond.

aos’ boundless love for music is apparent in everything she does. as a producer, a dj, and an event organizer with seattle’s secondnature and tuf collectives, kayla waldorf’s vision eschews traditional categories and genre boxes in favor of an ecstatic spontaneity. her dj sets are well known for their playful energy and narrative threading between many different styles. violent light is aos’ first offering on secondnature’s own label, and it captures this playful essence. the title track’s stomping groove (complete with rave whistle) sets the tone, while lullaby and what/why move into headier territory composed of dusty synths stabs and clouds of vocal effects. finally, secondnature’s own fugal delivers a remix that flips what/why into a rolling depth charge.
